Jordan, Lamprey lead Preston charge

PRESTON GRASSHOPPE­RS stretch their lead at the top by a point following a 53-0 win at home to Pocklingto­n.

Scott Jordan and Matt Lamprey crossed for two apiece, with Chris Roddy, Sam Scott and Peter Altham over for one each.

Jack Squirrel was successful with four conversion­s and a penalty.

Lymm, in second, slip back a touch unable to take the bonus points at home to Kirkby Lonsdale. Matt Connolly, Tom Bray and Richie McEvoy were the home try scorers in a 21-14 win, all converted by Cormack Nolan. Making his debut for the visitors Andre Potgeiter went in twice, both converted by Ryan Terry to claim a losing bonus.

Harrogate edge closer, running in five tries from their 36-3 win at home to Rossendale. Guy Corser and Jonny Corser stormed in for two each with Luke Edwards in for one, Luke White landing one conversion and three penalties. Lewis Allen with a penalty was the only reply.

Hull remain in fourth spot, beating Sandal 14-46 at Milnthorpe Green. Stephen Hiheta was the star with five tries . Lee Birch managed two with Ralph Kay in for one. Morley’s woes continue as they went down 22-46 at home to Kendal, though they did get a bonus point through tries from Mark Chivers, Ollie Flegg, Dante Van De Merwe and Jason Kinneelly – Mark Chester adding a conversion. Billingham hammered Birkenhead Park 64-3 at Greenwood Road. Martin Hopley, Elliott Husband and Tom Briggs scored two tries each, with Joe Evans, Luke Wilson, Matt Kirby and Adam Gardner making up the ten. Danny Finney added seven conversion­s. Sam Chridley had the onlyreply.

A last-minute penalty proved the difference as

Wirral edged it 18-15 at home to Ilkley. Dan Harvey and Keiron Cook were their try scorers, with Chris Harvey hitting a conversion and James Annetts two penalties. Ilkley crossed through Jack Mapleston and Josh Hall.
