Defeat drops Guernsey down to fourth

GUERNSEY were knocked off the top after a 33-22 defeat at Guildford and - with other results going against them, the former league leaders are now back in fourth spot.
Guildford had control right from the outset and ran in tries through Dan Parker and Luke Rust, plus two from Freddie Hooper, Gareth Davies also kicking two penalties, two conversions and a drop goal. Tring took full advantage and now move into pole position after beating Westcliff 39-33 at the Gables.
Barnes take over in second spot, beating
Shelford 5-26 away and securing the bonus point, Red Newberry was the only scorer for the home side with a try.
Hertford, in third, were 39-17 winners at home to Westcombe Park. Michael Allen crossed for a hat-trick, with his replacement on the left wing, Kyle Lemon, over for two. Sean Taylor was successful with four conversions and two penalties. Southend Saxons got their first win of the season and their first try bonus points, edging it with a penalty in injury time to take the honours 32-31 at home to Sutton and Epsom.
George Wood and Chris Shields bagged two tries apiece, with Chris Vaughan over for one. Tom
Ramsey kicked one conversion, as did Adam Dobson, who also was responsible for the matchwinning penalty.
The result also lifts the Saxons off the bottom, a point above Towcestrians.
For the visitors, Matt Whittacker, Alex Mount, Raynn Bruce and Stephan Cooksammy were the tryscorers, with Sam Hurley landing three conversions.
Sidcup were 37-17 victors at home to Towcestrians. Jon West, with two, Charlie Hokins, Lewis Anderson and Dan Thomas were the try-scorers, with Josh Twyford kicking three conversions and two penalties.
In the final game of the round, Dorking beat Tunbidge Wells 42-7 at the Big Field.
Harry Watts and Olly Rathbone both went over for two, with Finn Osborne in for one.
Matt Noble was successful with four conversions and three penalties.
