have eyes for Gloucester’s influentia­l centre Henry Trinder when his contract runs out in the summer.

Trinder is locked in talks Gloucester about a new deal but Harlequins are keeping tabs on developmen­ts with a view to moving if there isn’t a breakthrou­gh.

The 28-year-old, who has battled back from serious cruciate ligament injuries to both knees, has played like a magician for the Kingsholm outfit this season.

Quins are favourites to land young loose-head Nick Auterac from Bath after edging ahead of Bristol and Gloucester are leading the chase for England-qualified No.8 Brad Shields at the Hurricanes.
