BLACKHEATH secured a bonus-point win over Fylde with Joe Tarrant starring with the boot to guide them to an important victory against the league’s bottom side.

Thomas Baldwin opened the scoring on nine minutes with Tarrant converting before Thomas Grimes pulled a try back for the hosts.

Fylde were forced to defend for long periods of the opening half and their discipline eventually broke when David Fairbrother was shown a yellow card for attempting to slow the ball down near his own tryline.

Blackheath took full advantage to score from close range through Tarrant with the fly half converting his own try.

Hooker Thomas Burtonwood ensured that Fylde trailed by just two points at the break as he finished off a driving maul from a kick to the corner- powering over just before half-time.

Harry Bate then scored a neat try out on the left wing from 25 metres to give Blackheath the momentum once again before replacement Sam Evans secured the important bonus point.

Fylde battered the Blackheath defence in the final ten minutes to try and force themselves back into the game with Connor Wilkinson’s crossfield kick well collected by Chris Briers.

The full back offloaded to Tom Carleton for an easy score and replacement Danny Carlton added the extra to ensure Fylde got a losing bonus point.
