Tigers roar back to topple Dale

Wharfedale .... 33 Sheffield T .... 53

- ■ By ED WILLIAMS

SHEFFIELD Tigers ran riot and scored 45 unanswered points to storm back and secure a sensational triumph.

Tigers started the brighter and opened the scoring with an unconverted try from Henri Packard.

But Wharfedale kicked into gear and hit back after a 30-metre catch and drive was ended by a short burst from Kieran Frost, Thomas Barrett adding the extras. Another drive resulted in prop Joseph Altham crashing over to extend the lead.

George Hedgley then finished off a fine move and Barrett added the two, before the first half finished with a penalty try to Dale.

The hosts started the second half as they finished the first with a Richard Rhodes try from a lineout but then Tigers cut loose.

Broadley crossed the whitewash on 51 minutes, Mark Ireland converting, before Greg Mellor touched down moments later. Then came a flurry of late scores from Sheffield, with five tries in the final 12 minutes.

Packard added his second try and Ireland’s third conversion closing the gap to 33-29.

Two minutes later, Packard’s third try took Sheffield into the lead and the demolition continued with two more tries from Broadley and, finally, a fourth for Packard.
