Wild Geese stun high-flying Titans

LONDON Irish Wild Geese delivered an inspired performanc­e to upset Taunton in a drama-filled match at Hazelwood.

The home side had 40 points at half-time in a match with 13 tries, seven sin bins and a red card.

Geese took first blood as George Owen caught Alex Seers’ chip to score.

Chris Hitchcock added Geese’s second five minutes later, and the third came on eight minutes as Owen finished off a superb team move.

Taunton woke up on 12 minutes as Dan Frost crossed the line from a maul, and Aron Struminski intercepte­d to run clear three minutes later.

But Geese responded with Scott Moore crossing the line from a maul.

Geese scrum-half Tom Barker found space to score after 26 minutes, before Taunton scored a penalty try three minutes later.

Tyler Bush gave Geese the last try before half time after Titans’ Sam Prior saw yellow.

Taunton came out firing though and Nick Mason scored from deep, but Geese’s Reon Joseph snatched a try back from the restart.

The visitors’ Lewis Webb finished from a line-out and James Fleming crossed.

Harry Rowland was shown a red card after 74 minutes for leading with his elbow.
