Brooks celebrates special day with perfect result

LLANDOVERY skipper Richard Brooks celebrated his 150th appearance for the club by leading them to a comfortabl­e victory over Llanelli at Church Bank.

Llanelli opened the scoring after just two minutes thanks to a penalty from full-back Jake Newman. It took another 20 minutes for the next score to materialis­e with Llandovery’s Kristian Jones slotting a penalty to tie the match.

Llandovery took the lead for the first time soon after with centre Ryan Evans crossing after good work from Rhodri Wall and Lees Rees. Jones converting for a 10-3 lead.

The hosts lost flanker Ellis Thomas to the bin after 33 minutes and were made to pay with prop Scott Jenkins crossing for Llandovery’s second score.

Jones converted but Llandovery suffered a blow and went down to 14 men after prop Berian Watkins was penalised for an offthe-ball tackle.

Llanelli lost a second player to the bin after the interval with Adam Davies seeing yellow. They were again punished with lock Jake Baker crashing over.

With all the replacemen­ts on, Llandovery strove for the bonus point and they were not to be denied.
