BRIDGEND narrowly defeated rivals Swansea in a hard-fought fought encounter at the Brewery Field.

Rory Gallagher was mauled over the line for a try for the visitors after Owen Howe bravely turned down a shot at goal for a boot to the corner.

Ryan Evans cut the gap to a single point with a penalty goal after the Swansea defence illegally slowed the ball down.

Then a superb link up in midfield between centres Joseph Gatt and Morgan Jones sent scrum half Will Baird racing clear for a try under the posts. Ryan Evans converted.

The visitors’ second try was identical to their first in that Howe chose to find the corner from a penalty. This time lock Jon Fox charged over to score.

The Ravens’ backs looked to up the ante and a floated pass was picked up by Grabham out wide, who sprinted towards the line. He was tackled, but managed to offload to fellow winger Ryan Griffiths who used his power to score.

Swansea hit back inside injury time with an Andrew Claypole try, but it was not enough. Star man Keiran Martin - Bridgend
