Booth tops wanted list to replace Wilson

-

BATH head coach Toby Booth has emerged as a surprise target for Cardiff Blues in their hunt to replace Danny Wilson for next season.

Wilson announced in September that he was leaving the Welsh region with Northampton and Wasps in the running to sign him up.

The PRO14 side have been looking at a list of potential replacements and Blindside understands that former London Irish head coach Booth is top of their wanted list.

Booth has been at the Rec since June 2012 when he ended a seven-year spell with the Exiles, where he was forwards coach before stepping up to the head coach role.

Sources say there has been no approach as yet made to Bath, but Booth is very much someone that the Blues are interested in speaking to.

Former London Irish head of rugby operations Glenn Delaney is another that the Blues are considering for the role.

But Delaney, currently Canterbury head coach in the Mitre 10 Cup, is due to take up a two-year contract to replace Scott Robertson as Highlanders defensive coach.

Andy Robinson, who has been out of the game since leaving Bristol a year ago, is another name to be linked with the job in Cardiff.
