Chinnor power is vital as Redruth stutter

- ■ By BILL HOOPER

CHINNOR beat Redruth at their own game, out-powering the home pack in the red zone when it counted to score four tries and record a bonus-point win.

Having weathered the early Redruth threat, Chinnor scored the first of their tries when centre Alex Dancer got in amongst his forwards as they drove for the line to dot down.

Redruth looked to get back into it, with Sam Matavesi, Edd Pascoe and Brad Howe putting in some storming runs, leading to a penalty chance for Nielson Webber to cut the arrears from 40 metres.

That score lifted the Reds and it was no surprise when they took the lead following a powerful drive and several pick-and-goes, with Richard Brown finally getting over for an unconverted try.

Chinnor struck back before the break when Orisi Nawaqaliva bounced off a tackle to score in the corner off a Jonny Bentley pass. Despite the driving hail, Chinnor scored a third try off a catch-anddrive, thanks to prop Jack Gilding and then proceeded to dominate territorially.

No 8 Jack Ramshaw constantly caught the eye for Chinnor.

In the final ten minutes, they bagged a fourth try, with Redruth down to 14 men after the loss of replacement Alex Waddingham.

Redruth salvaged a losing bonus point when replacement prop Loma Kivalu went over with the final play.
