Adamson leads Blues fightback as champs are beaten

- ■ By BILL KIELY

MIKE Rayer was delighted with his Blues outfit after they kept up their perfect record in the B&I Cup with an impressive victory at the reigning champions.

Dean Adamson scored twice, while Ed Taylor dotted down the other try, to cancel out the efforts from Jack Power and Alex McHenry in Cork.

“Delighted with the win given Munster’s home record. We knew it was going to be a tough ask and we didn’t help ourselves by conceding scores in those early minutes,” said Rayer.

“We made a lot of errors and could have been staring down the barrel but we showed great character by hanging in there and getting a try just before half-time put us right back in the game.”

The hosts took control after just two minutes when Power touched down. James Hart converted for 7-0 lead and after a period of extended pressure from the home side, Munster struck again in the 24th minute when McHenry scored from close range. Hart again converted.

But seven minutes before half-time Bedford prop Taylor got in to score and they were right back in the game trailing 14-7.

Will Wooley put Adamson through for a try three minutes after half-time, and the Bedford out-half added the conversion too.

Wooley’s long range penalty gave Bedford the lead for the first time in the 52nd minute, before another penalty and second try from Adamson sealed the win.
