Hawks trio swoop for two tries each

- ■ By ALISTAIR BEYNON

TRY doubles for Tom Emery, David Hyde and Xavier Andre enabled the Hawks to power home.

Despite a scrappy first ten minutes, they went ahead through Emery following a driving maul.

They were building confidence, and some superb handling led to Hyde going over. The ever-present flanker scored again two minutes later following more patient build-up work.

The game was all but over four minutes later when Hawks full-back Jack Robinson broke away for an individual try that secured a bonus point.

Worthing got on the scoresheet on the halfhour, with tight-head Dan Sargent powering over.

The second half started in a similar vein, until a Xavier Andre try, in which there appeared to be a forward pass in the build-up, put the Hawks further in front.

The Raiders came storming back, with captain Liam Perkins and then centre Jonathan Dawe going over.

However, any hope of a Raiders comeback evaporated when they were reduced to 14 men and Emery went over again in the corner.

The game wasn’t finished as another Andre try for Henley was followed by a fourth try from fly-half Matt McLean and a bonus point for the Raiders in injury time. TITANS were taught a harsh lesson in how to control a game, to execute a game plan and keep mistakes to a minimum.

Cinderford were deserved winners and it wasn’t until late on, when Taunton decided to play, that the visitors were on the back foot.

Cinderford’s forwards laid the foundation and Taunton seemed to make simple mistakes.

It was from one of these that Cinderford scored their first try through captain George Porter. The conversion was missed, but Liam Hemming added the extras five minutes later when winger Alex Frame went over.

Taunton didn’t learn and Cinderford went in under the posts after a defensive mistake allowed Frame in for his second and then back-row Matt Lane to score.

Both were converted by Hemming to give Cinderford a 26-point lead at the half-time break.

Titans needed to up their game but still couldn’t impose themselves. Cinderford struck again when George Evans powered over with Hemming adding the extras.

With the game lost Taunton started to go through the phases and scored tries through Andy Hamilton and Sam Brown, on his debut. Toby East drop-kicked both conversions, but it was too late by then.
