Raiders muscle into top spot after win

WITH top of the table Hertford’s match away at Westcliff being postponed,

Guernsey took full advantage to move into top spot following a 19-13 win over third-place Tring.

Anthony Armstrong, Sam Steventon and Dan Hill were the home side’s try scorers, Owen Thomas converting twice.

Tring, who were trailing 19-6, came back well in the closing exchanges to cross for a converted try to secure a losing bonus point which keeps them just above Barnes, who were 62-7 victors at home to Towcestria­ns.

Andrew Scott led the charge with a hat-trick, Tom O’Toole bagged two with Jimmy Adam, Alex Hind, Will Armitage, Harry Cody-Owen, Hamish Reeves in for one each, O’Toole also kicking six conversion­s. Tunbridge Wells were 39-26 victors over Guildford. Christan Earle, Ryan Taylor-Dennehy, Mike Hatheway, Dave Allen, Frank Reynolds and Matt Spicer dotted down for the visitors with Reynolds landing three conversion­s and a penalty. Saxons moved off the bottom of the table after beating Westcombe Park 28-25.

Lawrence Joel, Jack McVeigh (2) scored for Saxons with Tom Ramsey landing two conversion­s and two penalties and Adrian Dobson also adding a penalty. For the visitors Bradley Saffery crossed twice with Joe Bonner and Jordan Saunders converted by Will Robinson for the bonus score over for one each, while Mickey Zanarito kicked an early penalty.
