Skipper reveals Rams refused to panic

- ■ By CAMERON TEMPLE

A RAMPANT Rams side stormed away from Clifton with a dazzling second-half performance.

After a shaky start, the Reading men were able to recover under the leadership of captain Robbie Stapley, who spoke after the game.

“We were a bit sloppy to start and it took us a while to re-group,” he said.

“Then we just played the game at our own tempo, rather than panicking and scrambling back to get the ball.

“We put pressure on them and they started making mistakes. We just stuck to what we wanted to do”

This victory takes the Rams to third as they continue to fly up the table owing to scintillating form over the past ten games.

With the score at 11-0 to Clifton after 20 minutes it seemed it would be a tough afternoon for the Rams.

However, the momentum then swayed in the way of the Rams, as tries from Oli Cole, Jordan Souter and Tom Vooght allowed them to go into half time with a 19-11 lead.

It appeared Clifton had found a way back into the game early in the second half with a try following an impressive drive.

Nonetheless, this kicked the Rams into gear as they began to turn the screw.

They dominated the rest of the closing half with an astounding four more tries to more than comfortably secure yet another bonuspoint victory.
