Hertford keep pressure on the leaders
HERTFORD are just a point behind leaders Guernsey, and with a game in hand, they have the Channel Island side firmly on their radar after beating
Shelford 31-5 at Highfields. Michael Allen crossed for two tries with Josh Corcoran and Aaron Lowe, with a superb break from 50 metres, over for one each, both converted by Sean Taylor to cap another
impressive performance for Hertford.
Guernsey remain at the top of the table following a six-try 43-19 bonus-point win at Sutton & Epsom.
Despite the scoreline the home side made a fair fist of it and were perhaps a little unlucky not to take a four-try bonus point themselves. Jordan Turner went over for two with Steve Munford in for one, Sam Hurley adding two conversions. Tring stay in third after a 17-9 away victory at Towcestrians. Harry Green and Rory Wood were the try-scorers both converted by Jake Culley who also slotted a penalty.
Ben Roe with three penalties was the sole scorer for the home side.
Barnes edged it 22-21 away to Tunbridge Wells but had to hang on after taking a 22-7 lead as the home side came storming back.
Jamie Collins, Alex Hind and Gareth WilliamsDavies, who also added two conversions and a penalty, were the visitors’ try-scorers with Luke Hawkins, off a break by Christian Earle, and Charles Spence with two were the try-scorers for the home side all converted by Frank Reynolds.
Dorking were 30-26 winners at home to Guildford as Ed Carne, Tom Hunt, James Catton, with two, and James Arbury were the try-scorers with Cam Pimlow on target with a conversion and a penalty.
Sidcup went down 10-7 at home to Westcombe Park.
Dan Thomas’ try was converted by Josh Twyford but the home side had to settle for a losing bonus point.
Westcliff move into fifth spot after beating
Southend Saxons 52-0. Ross Merrick and Joe Vandermolen went over for two tries apiece with John Marsh, Sam Brown, John Jones and Sean Maloney all also crossing.
Jones was also successful with six conversions to take his personal tally to 17 points on the day.
