Islanders sitting pretty as Hertford slip

GUERNSEY are still looking odds-on favourites for promotion after seeing off

Dorking 24-11. Guernsey scored tries through Dan Hill, Sam Whitehea, Cameron Crain and a penalty try with Owen Thomas adding one conversion.

In reply, Harry Watts was Dorking’s sole try scorer, with Matt Noble hitting two penalties .

Second-placed Hertford slip back after being held to a 14-14 draw at Tring, despite losing the try count two to one. Richard Beeney crossed for Hertford, with Tom Newton on target with two penalties.

Geoff Hughes and James Kingsley crossed for Tring, both converted by Ben Lloyd.

Barnes certainly made them pay and move up into second after hammering Southend Saxons 97-7, scoring 15 tries in the pricess.

There were four for Alex Hurst, three for Fraser Carlisle and two for Matthew Cornice, with Tom O'Toole, Russell Nimmo, Robbie Martey, Andrew Scott, Danny Ruddock, and Jack Garnett also scoring.

Westcombe Park move above the Saxons as they were 35-3 winners at home to Sutton and Epsom. Dan Hamilton, Scott Purcell, Sammy Sema, Jordan Saunders and Charlie O’Sullivan were their try scorers.

Every try was converted by James Cameron with Sutton’s only reply coming from Jacob Knight’s boot.

Elsewhere, Guildford beat Westcliff 29-22. Nick Clarke, Joe Garner, Paddy McEnry, Bradley Smith and Freddie Hooper, who also added two conversion­s, were the home try scorers. Josh Stoll, Jack Hopkins and John Finn replied, with Jack Jones landing two conversion­s and a penalty.

Sidcup won 25-17 away to Shelford.

Charlie Hopkins, Dan Thomas and Luke Coughlan were the try scorer,s for Shelford. For the home side, Charlie Baker went over for two tries, both converted by Josh Simmonds to add to a penalty. Finally, Tunbridge Wells were 41-5 victors at

Towcestria­ns. Nick Doherty, with three tries, led the charge followed by Shadyn Osgood, Matt Spicer, Max Douch and Mike Doherty. Sam Sturley responded with Towcestria­ns only try.
