TABLE-topping Dings

Crusaders increased their lead at the top after a 17-14 victory over title challengers Newton Abbot.

The All Whites looked to be on course for victory when Rob Avery-Wright slotted home two early penalties.

However, the title chasers, who have been beaten only three times this season, responded with tries by Ben Bolster and Tom Knight.

Dan Williams drew Newton Abbot back to within one point, before a further Ally Duddell try sealed the victory.

Avery-Wright kicked the All Whites back to within three points, but they were unable to pull it back.

Bournemouth made it five wins from their last six games after coming from behind to clinch a 13-12 victory over Cleve.

Cleve took an eighth minute lead until forward Richard Sharp evened the scores up seven minutes later.

Cleve regained the lead two minutes before the break with a second try to make it 12-5.

Just minutes into the second half, Freddie Gleadowe pulled Bournemouth back to two points behind.

Then, on the hour, Grant Hancox’s penalty would prove to be the decider that sealed victory.

Maidenhead sealed a bonus-point 27-21 victory against Lydney.

However, it was the visitors who took a 7-0 lead from the kick-off, before a catch-and-drive try drew Maidenhead back to two points.

In a physical encounter Maidenhead were handed a 12-7 lead at the break after a penalty try was awarded.

As they stretched the game, Scott Prince ran over a third score before the bonus point try was sealed by back row David Cole. Hornets gave their faint hopes of survival a major boost by clinching only their fourth victory of the campaign following a 23-16 victory over fellow strugglers Ivybridge.

Charlie Carter and Matt Parker were the hosts’ try scorers, while Jordan Humphries kicked three penalties and two conversions.

Finally Bracknell were 26-12 victors over Camborne while the match between Brixham and

Exmouth was beaten by the weather.
