Home comforts as Albion battle to key win
PLYMOUTH Albion got their season back on track with a hard-earned win over Caldy in their first home game of 2018.
Playing with a strong wind behind them Caldy raced into a 10-0 lead.
After scrum half Ben Jones kicked a penalty, centre Delwyn Jones sliced through the home defence for a try near the uprights.
Jones added the simple conversion before Plymouth opened their account with a catch and drive try claimed by flanker Sam Daly.
Fly-half Dan Mugford converted before setting up Plymouth’s second try.
Centre Harvey Skinner latched onto a kick through by Mugford to score under the posts with the fly-half converting.
Caldy then reduced the deficit to a single point when Jones slotted through a penalty after Plymouth were penalised for an illegal tackle.
Plymouth had the luxury of changing shirts at half-time and stretched their lead to two scores through more good work from Mugford.
After cutting through the Caldy defence, Mugford put prop Dan Pullinger over with a well-timed inside pass.
Mugford converted before Plymouth went in search a bonus-point try.
Good defence from Caldy kept them at bay though and the visitors got a welldeserved losing bonus-point when Jones kicked a stoppage time penalty.
