South beaten as Macc rally for victory

- ■ By BRAD HARPER

A SPIRITED Macclesfield recovered from two consecutive losses in an enthralling victory against South Leicester.

The home side struck the first blow – the fleet-footed Myles Bean side-stepping the Macclesfield defence to score and Rickie Aley converting. Macclesfield replied with a try of their own. Their maul bulldozed towards the line and William Robinson burst off the side to dot down. Thomas Morton converted to equalise.

Morton set-up leftwinger Myles Hall who dotted down for the Blues – again Morton making no mistake from the tee, before Aley landed a penalty.

Two minutes before the interval, Joseph Palmer bundled over the line for the Blues, making the score 10-19 at half time.

After the restart, Bean charged over for his second try. Aley brought home the angled conversion.

Lewis Barker hit back for the visitors to earn the bonus point. Morton slotted the extras.

Hooker Samuel Moss secured a pushover try for Macclesfield as they continued to turn the screw, Morton landing his fourth conversion.

Lewis Barker then added a try, but Morton couldn’t make it five conversions.

The Macclesfield defence held firm during the closing stages but Leicester tried to make amends with Joseph Collingham diving over and Aley executing his third conversion.
