Drovers come from behind with their fresh legs

- ■ By HUW S THOMAS Star man Richard Brooks – Llandovery

THE Drovers won their second game of the post-Christmas Premiership after a thrilling second-half fightback.

Their last two scheduled games – against RGC and Bargoed – had been postponed because of waterlogged pitches and this result made it two wins out of two since the victory at Aberavon in December.

Cardiff built up a windassisted 19-9 half-time lead, with three tries from bustling centres Will ReesHole and Adam Jones and full-back Dan Fish, with fly-half Gareth Thompson adding two conversions.

All the Drovers had to show for parity of both possession and territory were three penalties from fly-half Jack Maynard.

The Blue and Blacks copped two yellow cards in quick succession just before the break.

Prop Fraser Young and No.8 Rory Pitman were the offenders, and the Drovers took swift advantage.

Intense forward pressure on the Cardiff line ended with skipper and No.8 Richard Brooks crashing through for a converted try.

And things got even better for the Drovers when wing Lee Williams crossed wide out for another converted try.

A Maynard penalty made it 26-19 with his side seemingly in control, before Cardiff rallied well for Rees-Hole to get his second try. But the Blue and Blacks had to be satisfied with two bonus points in a rousing game.
