Richmond head north looking for the double

-

HAVING missed Round 16’s fixture against Cornish Pirates due to poor weather at Mennaye Field, Yorkshire will be looking to build on their most recent victory against Hartpury RFC back in January as they welcome Richmond to Headingley.

The two sides last met in October at Richmond’s Athletic Ground, where Yorkshire lost out to an aggressive Richmond side 31-20.

Carnegie head coach James Lowes has named Stevie McColl at full-back in place of Chris Elder, who is serving a three-match ban.

Fred Burdon misses out with a neck injury so Tom Casson comes back into the starting line-up. Josh Bainbridge is also ruled out with a cheekbone fracture which he suffered against Hartpury.

On the bench, Mike Mayhew returns after completing his loan spell with Quins.

Richmond know a bonus-point win could move them back into the top half of the Champi- onship with just six games remaining in the season.

The 11-3 victory over Rotherham last time out was the south-west Londoners’ seventh victory of the season. They bring a strong side up north for this huge encounter with director of rugby Steve Hill making just two changes to the starting line-up following last weekend’s win.

The backline is unchanged for the third game on the trot with Rhodri Adamson on the bench, fresh from his call up to the Jamaican Commonwealth 7s side during the week.

Jason Phipps comes in at hooker and Myles Scott starts in the second row.
