Guernsey keep the rest at bay after win

GUERNSEY remain six points ahead of the chasing pack after beating Westcliff 29-51 at The Gables.

However the Channel Island side did not have everything their own way as Westcliff made them fight for every point and on 50 minutes it was still level pegging at 29-29 before the leaders pulled away in the final quarter.

The home side crossed for five tries from Olly Jones, Sam Brown, Jake Spivey, Ross Merrick and Jack Jones who also landed two conversion­s.

Barnes remain second after winning 19-42 away to Guildford. Matt Cornish bagged two with Alex Hind, Jack Franklin, Tom O'Toole and Robbie Marty in for one each all converted by Charlie Wicks.

Stu Fee, Ollie Millward and Christian King crossed for the home side with Freddie Hooper adding two conversion­s.

Tring held on in third place after winning 20-30 away at Sidcup. Elliott Byfield went in for two with Jake Olly and Oscar Nicholson-Potter the other try scorers, Will Mitchell on target with two penalties and two conversion­s.

Hertford are in fourth following a 43-17 win at home to Tunbridge

Wells. Ben Creasy led the charge with a hattrick with Chris Joyce, Sean Taylor, Jack Elsdon and Geoff Hughes over for one

apiece, Taylor also landing four conversion­s.

Dorking emerged 31-15 winners at home to

Sutton and Epsom. Tom Hunt crossed for two with Harry Watts and Olly Rathbone in for one each all converted by Matt Noble to add to an early penalty. For the visitors, Andrew Ciccarelli and Chris Kolapo-Ajala dotted down with Sam Hurley kicking a conversion and a penalty.

Elsewhere, Shelford bettered Westcombe

Park 27-16 at The Davey Field. Charlie Parkhouse went in for two with Luke Mongton over for one. All were converted by Josh Simmons who also landed two penalties. Will Robinson crashed over for Westcombe Park’s only try, converted by James Cameron, who also kicked three penalties.

Southend Saxons went down 14-15 in a tight game at home to Towcestria­ns. Seth Robinson and George Woods scored, with Matt Navas converting both.
