Five-try Quins take the title in fine style

MAESTEG Quins sealed the One West Central title in style with a 47-28 victory over Bridgend Athletic.

Aled Edwards, Keiron Watkins, Lewis Francis, Nathan Smith and Geraint Evans all went over for the Quins, who saw Owen Howe kicked four penalties and five conversion­s.

Athletic landed tries from Ben Howe, Ben Cording, Aled Thomas and Luke Bevan, who also kicked four conversion­s.

Quins will now try to end the season with a perfect league record, having won all 19 games so far, to take momentum into the promotion play-off where they will face One West winners Felinfoel.

Tries from Elliot Davies, Jordan Dunne, Nick Morris, Joe Hutchings and Connor Ford gave Felinfoel a 34-17 win at Kidwelly. Brynmawr clinched the One East title with a 40-10 win at Nelson. WRU National Plate hat-trick hero Craig Fillier was back among the tries with a brace.

Nathan Corlett was also at the double while Adam Lane and Ryan Gardner touched down too. Brynmawr will face

Ystrad Rhondda for a place in the National Championsh­ip following their 89-10 thrashing of Rumney.

Ryan Howells crashed over three times while Nathan Hughes and Jarred Llewellyn scored twice.

Liam Davies, Jay Harris, Kyle Evans, Jack Foulkes, Derwyn Coleman and Derwyn Davies joined them on the scoresheet while Rhys Truelove booted 12 conversion­s.

Nant Conwy edged closer to the One North title after a dominant 83-17 win at Colwyn Bay.

Hat-tricks from Carwyn Davies, Carwyn ap Myrddin and Arthur Lennon guided them to victory.

Dan Parry, Jordan Sheridan and Paul Thompson hit back for Colwyn Bay.

Pwllheli also enjoyed a big 59-35 win over

Llangefni to remain three points behind but Nant Conwy will seal the title with a win over Llangefni on Saturday.
