Powell’s double helps Otters go second

Ystrad Rhondda after they beat Brynmawr 47-31 in the first leg of their Division One play-off.

Harvey Connolly was at the double while Ryan Howells, Rhys Truelove, Nathan Hughes, Carl Williams and Aron Clarke also touched down for One East Central champions Ystrad, with Truelove converting six of their seven tries.

For Brynmawr – winners of One East – Craig Fillier scored twice with Ellis Evans and Adam Lane also on the scoresheet.

The sides do it all again at Brynmawr on Wednesday night for the second leg.

The other Division One play-off will be between One West Central champions Maesteg Quins and One West winners Felinfoel but dates have yet to be revealed.

Both were in league action yesterday, with the Quins going down 24-22 at

Ystalyfera while Felinfoel won 62-7 at Llangennec­h.

Jordan Evans, Aled Roberts and Luke Marsh landed doubles for Felinfoel. Nant Conwy have been crowned champions of One North as they racked up 11 tries in a thumping 71-26 home win over Llangefni.

Carwyn ap Myrddin’s hat-trick inspired Nant with Arthur Lennon and Jack Moriarty both collecting braces. In One East Central,

Llanharan have been relegated after losing 40-23 at

Porth Harlequins. Sam May’s hat-trick led the way for Porth.

Heol y Cyw gave themselves a lifeline as they defeated Rhiwbina 29-7.

Ryan Griffiths, Joel Ayres, Rhys Pope, twice, and Mark Bennett got the tries for the Cockerels.
