No-brainer for Davies to sign on with Boyd at Saints

NORTHAMPTO­N Saints have bolstered their ranks at scrum-half by snapping up former Wasps and Dragons player Charlie Davies.

The 28-year-old left the Welsh region this summer, having made 54 appearance­s in their colours. He will add depth to the No.9 position following the departure of Nic Groom.

“The decision to join a club like Northampto­n Saints was a no-brainer,” Davies said. “The prospect of working with new director of rugby Chris Boyd, as well as the new coaching set-up, is an exciting one.”

Nizaam Carr will rejoin Wasps for next season on a premananet basis. The 27year-old South African internatio­nal No.8 spent three months at the Ricoh Arena earlier this season providing injury cover.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: “Nizaam made a massive impact during the time he was with us in the autumn. As a powerful ball-carrier with plenty of pace he proved to be a really good fit with our playing style.”

Doncaster have been recruiting with Newcastle’s Nick Civetta, 28, signing permanantl­y after impressing on loan last season. .

Willie Ryan has also joined the club from rivals Ealing Trailfinde­rs, on a one year-deal. The flanker, 27, joins having helped Ealing to a second-place finish in the Championsh­ip last season

Elliott Creed, 21, also arrives at Castle Park, from Gloucester where the youngster made nine first team appearance­s.

Capped for England at U18 level, the former Gloucester academy player brings versatilit­y and can play either fly-half, centre or wing.

Edinburgh have strengthen­ed their options in the back row with the signing of 26-year-old Fiji flanker Senitiki Nayalo.

The 6ft 2in, 18 stone former London Irish star has penned a two-year deal.

Head coach Richard Cockerill, added: “We’re delighted, Senitiki is an abrasive, powerful ball carrier who will add strength and depth to our back-row.”

London Irish prop Richard Palframan, 24, has agreed to join London Scottish.
