Ravai set for Mose debut at Ravers

-

RAVAI Fatiaki can make a massive impact for Birmingham Moseley this season according to director of rugby Richard Protherough ahead of their opening game at Caldy.

Moseley travel to Paton Field looking to improve on last year’s seventh-placed finish and they will be able to call on versatile Fijian international Fatiaki in that bid.

The 31-year-old, who has spent time at both Worcester Warriors and Leicester Tigers, comes straight into the side in the centres.

And Protherough expects Fatiaki to make an immediate impact for Moseley, who have also added hooker Joe Roe who will make his debut for the club today.

He said: “Ravai is a very talented footballer who will bring an edge and international and Premiership experience to our backline.

“When discussing the plans in place at Moseley, his enthusiasm and ambition really impressed me.”

Moseley are not the only team to have made a splash in the summer, with Caldy also showing their ambition in their second season in National One.

Last year they finished in 11th spot, a more than creditable performance in their first season in National One following promotion.

Over the summer they have brought in the vastly experienced Rob O’Donnell, who spent time with both Sale Sharks and Worcester, while Lewis Barker and Mike Barlow also join the side.

With that added experience, Caldy should be able to build on last season’s campaign.

And they will do so against a Moseley side who they beat home and away last season. After a 13-11 win on the road, they won the return fixture at Paton Field 21-20 and will be looking to make it third time lucky this afternoon.
