Dacey on fire with treble to inspire Hinckley

- By SIMON MOYLE

HINCKLEY ran out deserved winners against a dispirited Peterborough Lions on a dry day at Solstice Park.

It was Lions who started the stronger and following sustained pressure Kaz Henderson scored wide out in the seventh minute. This kickstarted Hinckley into a fine riposte with second row and captain Alex Salt scoring on 11 minutes. Joe Wilson converted and nine minutes later left winger Callum Dacey scored an unconverted try.

From then on Peterborough staged a comeback scoring two converted tries in the space of four minutes, the first scored by flanker Franco Perticaro following great work by Young. From the kick off Peterborough moved the ball from one side to the other with back row forward Jake Carter running the try in from 50 yards. This put Peterborough into a 21-12 lead with an upset on the cards.

However, shortly before half-time sustained pressure from the Hinckley pack saw Ryan Hough go over on 39 minutes to score the first of two tries either side of the break.

The second period saw Hinckley dominate proceedings, scoring a further five tries with Hough completing a double, and Dacey scoring two more to complete a hat-trick and Wilson completing the scoring late in the second period.

Dacey completed his hattrick during a spell when the Lions were down to 13 after a pair of yellow cards.
