Bees hit Redcliffs for six in pacy try-fest
BIRMINGHAM & Solihull Bees bagged their first victory of the season but were guilty of letting Bristolbased Redcliffians back into the game in a tense climax.
Redcliffians raced into a third-minute lead when second row Chris Pursall charged over for fly-half Kieran Hill to convert.
Bees bounced straight back with centre Nathan Tilsley crossing after a clever offload for the accurate Jack Jolly to convert.
Left wing Matt Dight then sprinted 70 metres to put Bees ahead before second row Matt Spink stormed over from a scrum.
Scrum-half Jolly converted both tries to put Bees 21-7 ahead before Redcliffians responded with a try from Henry Bird.
Full-back Harry O'Brien bulldozed his way over for a Bees bonus-point try before Dight outsprinted the covering defence for a fifth try.
Redcliffians claimed a third try just before the hour when centre Jermaine Jones cut through the Bees defence.
A second try for Tilsley appeared to put Bees out of sight at 42-24 but Redcliffians fought back.
A late yellow card for Jolly gave Redcliffians chance to claim a bonus point, which they obtained on 78 minutes with a second Pursall try.
The Bristolians closed the gap to just four points when No.8 Ethan Doyle went over with the last move of the match, which Hill duly converted – just a little too late for the visitors.
