Wimbledon look unstoppabl­e at the top

IT’S still early days but newly promoted Wimbledon top the table following a 52-8 win away at Tunbridge Wells.

Jack Flanagan and Toby White led the charge with two tries apiece with Kane Alboni, Harry Tabb, Josh Charles and Ben Hough claiming one each.

Freddie Hooper slotted four conversion­s and Tabb two. Frank Reynolds with

a penalty and Toby Talbot were the scorers for the home side.

Westcliff, in second place, edged it 29-27 away to

Sidcup, a penalty in the closing minutes from Jack Jones the difference between the sides.

Westcliff also claimed the try bonus through efforts from Jim Smith, Jones and Josh Scott - all converted by the outside half - with a second half try from Greg Bannister to bring up the four.

Dan Thomas, Max O'Leary and Colby McMahon were try scorers for Sidcup all converted by Josh Twyford, who also landed two penalties.

Brentwood took the honours 28-23 away to

Chingford. George Bassenger, Chay Pollinger and Ed Hornby were the try scorers with Matt Burr kicking a conversion and two penalties and Brad Burr successful with a conversion and a penalty.

Bedford Athletic went down 26-24 at home to Tring.

Stephen Woodward, Dave Simpson, James Wallace and Steve Smith, with the bonus try, were the scorers for the home side.

Tring also crossed for four through Zac Michalski with two, Sam Barnes and Gary Andrews.

Hertford racked up the points in a 48-10 home win against Shelford. James Mitchell crossed for two tries with Michael Rugely, Richard Street, Michael Sargent, Jack Elston, Torran McDougal and Sam Walker over for one each. Rugely landed two conversion­s and Ben Lloyd also two.

Michael Gillick went in for the visitors, converted by Josh Simmons who also kicked a penalty.

In a tight match at The Big Field, Dorking took the honours beating Guildford 16-13. Tom Hunt and Ollie Rathbone were the try scorers for the home side with Matt Noble on target with two penalties. Elsewhere, Sutton &

Epson beat CS Stags 34-29 in the evening kick-off.
