Awesome Alnwick hold off Blaydon

IN THE battle of the newcomers relegated at the end of last season Blaydon beat promoted Alnwick 2813 despite losing David Kyle to a red card.

James Cooney, Rob Landeryou, Cam Bell and Liam Wright were the try scorers for the visitors all converted by Dan Taylor.

Hamish Burn crossed for the hosts’ only try converted by Callum Burn to add to two first-half penalties from Alex Robson.

Billingham edged it 1614 away to Harrogate. Matt Kirkby was the try scorer and Evans did the rest with three penalties and a conversion.

Danny Matthews and Matt Lansdall crossed for the Yorkshire side, both converted by Sam Watkinson.

Hull were 13-3 winners at home to Wirral, Stephen Hihetah and Mike Adlard the try scorers plus a penalty from Simon

Huddleston­e. Ben Brookes landed a penalty for the visitors.

Kendal were 27-10 victors away at Kirkby

Lonsdale, while Lymm snatched victory with a converted try in the closing minutes to take the game 17-15 against Rossendale.

The visitors opened with a try from Aaron Perry, Lewis Allen slotting the conversion and he then hit a penalty to put the east Lancashire side 0-10 ahead.

Lymm came back with a try from Jake Maher converted by Cormack Nolan but coming up to half time Dominic Moon strolled over to give Rossendale a 715 lead at the interval.

In the second half Nolan reduce the deficit with a penalty before Giles Dugdale went over to level the scores, Nolan's conversion sealing the win.

Sandal were 23-16 winners at home to Ilkley, Dan Forcett, Adam Hopkinson, Simon Frewin and Austin Thompson the try scorers with James Ellar hitting a penalty. Patrick Power

scored for the visitors converted by Charles Morgan who also landed three penalties.

In the final game of the round Wilmslow beat Vale

of Lune 19-27. Adam Hewitt, Rich Hughes and Bob MacCallum who also kicked three conversion­s and two penalties were the try scorers for the visitors.

Chris Ramwell, and Ollie Jacques with two went over for the home side, while Will Hunt added two conversion­s.
