Powerful Ponty are too hot for Llanelli to handle

- By JAY BAYFORD

PONTYPRIDD were in irresistible from as they ran in seven tries.

They were up and running within five minutes thanks to a try from flanker Rhys Shellard, with winger Dale Stuckey converting.

The Valley Commandos dominated and got their second as powerful No.8 Morgan Sieniawski forced his way over. Again, Stuckey converted.

The hosts continued to create opportunities at will but Alex Webber and Alex Knott both missed giltedged chances before a slip from full-back Gary Williams almost let Llanelli back into the game.

Despite that blip, a yellow card to visiting prop Adam Thomas handed Ponty a numerical advantage and they did not waste it, with Stuckey and Knott both going over to seal the bonus point.

Ponty had to weather an early storm from Llanelli after the break.

But they soon regained control, with Stuckey adding his second of the game following a defensive mistake.

Webber finally got his name on the scoresheet as the clock ticked down and Ceri Sweeney came off the bench to fire over the conversion. Chris Long was shown a late yellow card for Llanelli.

It allowed Webber to seal the win with his second of the game in the dying minutes.
