Late Shaw try keeps Billingham unbeaten
BILLINGHAM take over at the top of the table and are now the only unbeaten side in the competition following a 33-32 win at home to Sandal – but it took a try in the final minutes of time added on from Luke Shaw to secure the points.
Other try scorers for the Bills were Joe Spoors, Dan Dixon, Dan Brown and Luke Wilson with Peter Evans on target with four conversions. For Sandal Declan Thompson, Danny Grainger, Simon Frewin and Jack Townsend crossed for tries with Greg Wood landing three conversions and two penalties.
Blaydon meanwhile surrendered top spot going down 26-24 at home to Hull. Joe Stafford, Mike Jobling, Mike Adlard and Alex Heard went over for the visitors with Simon Humberstone successful with three conversions.
Nathan Bailey, Dan Fearn and Jack Appleton with two were the home try scorers with John Guy slotting two conversions. Blaydon did however manage to pick up two bonus points having recorded four tries and losing within seven.
Ilkley hammered weakened Kirkby Lonsdale 43-5 Pat Power and Max McKay crossed for a double each with Charles Ramsey and Matt Burke in for one. Charlie Morgan landed five conversions and a penalty.
Kendal edged it 19-12 at home to league newcomers
Vale of Lune Myles Harrop was the only try scorer for the home side but the boot of Jack Blakeney-Edwards did the damage through four penalties and a conversion.
Harrogate were 31-13 winners away to Rossendale. Phil Mills and George Peel were the try scorers for the home side with Nathan Wyman slotting a conversion and Tom Leader a penalty.
In the battle of the new boys, Alnwick came out on top beating Wilmslow 2617 at Pownall Park, picking up a try bonus point in the process. Ben Day and Nick Barker crossed for the home side both converted by Bob McCullam who also kicked a penalty.
Wirral were 19-11 victors at home to local rivals
Lymm, Ben Brooks, Tom Parry and Jack Yorker crossed for tries with Jimmy Annetts landing two conversions. Richard McEvoy scored a late try for the visitors to add to two first half penalties from Cormack Nolan.
