Rosser’s five-star show has Dragons roaring

LEFT wing Jared Rosser helped himself to five tries as Dragons A chalked up their first win, beating Connacht Eagles 53-38 at Ystrad Mynach.

Props Gerard Ellis and Chris Coleman, full-back Carwyn Penny and replacemen­t back Deon Smith also grabbed touchdowns while wing Will Talbot-Davies kicked four conversion­s.

Connacht managed five tries through Conor McKeon, Conor Fitzgerald, Colm de Buitlear and Sean O’Brien (2). Fitzgerald also kicked a penalty and five conversion­s. Scarlets A also registered their first with a dominant display to beat Ulster A 45-15 at Shaw’s Bridge.

Corey Baldwin, Tomi Lewis, Morgan Williams, Kieran Hardy, Lewis EllisJones and Ryan Conbeer earned the West Walians maximum points.

The visitors lead 24-3 at the break in a first half that saw them put 21 unanswered points on their hosts after former Wales U16 player Iwan Hughes was binned in the 24th minute.

All six tries were converted by Angus O’Brien who also booted a penalty.

Bradley Luney and Aaron Hall replied with second half tries for Ulster with Bruce Houston adding five points from the tee.

The Ospreys Developmen­t side lacked the strength in depth to challenge Munster A, going down 52-7 at St Helen’s.

The Irishmen looked faster in thought and deed against the young and outclassed Ospreys and were 26-0 up by half time with tries from lock Fineen Wycherley, flanker John Hodnet, No.8 Gavin Coombes and Matt More.

There were further tries for wing Alan Tynan, scrum-half Jack Stafford and Wicherley plus a penalty try with the home answer a self-converted try from flyhalf Josh Thomas.

It proved to be an afternoon to forget in south Dublin for Cardiff Blues A as they fell to a 57-10 defeat against Leinster A.

Patrick Patterson (2), Ronan Foley (2), Ronan Kelleher, Adam Byrne, Oisin Dowling and Michael Silvester scored for Leinster. Sion Bennett and Tom Williams replied for the Blues in the second half.
