Barnett’s 29 points sends out big message

WRU National Bowl Rnd One round-up

HAVERFORDW­EST were the big winners in the first round of the WRU National Bowl with a 69-5 win over Pantyffynn­on.

Craig Barnett was the star for the Three West A outfit with three tries and seven conversion­s.

Rhys Baker backed him up with a double and was followed over the whitewash by Josh Atherton, Gareth Owens, Dan Richards, Ben Skudder, Jamie Zambas-Adams and Rhodri Harris.

Rob Davies grabbed a consolatio­n try for Pantyffynn­on.

Abercrave were also among the points as they trounced Glais 57-7.

Richie Elliott crashed over three times for Abercrave with Curtis Griffiths, Dewi Pritchard and Nicholas Evans each adding two tries.

Connor Hughes then sealed the win with 12 points from the tee.

The high-scoring encounters continued with

Llangadog sending Pontyates crashing out with a 50-14 triumph.

Aled Jenkins and Tom Bailey led the attack with superb doubles with Tomos Reed and Eifion Jones among the other try scorers.

Dafydd Jenkins then added six conversion­s and a penalty.

Jonathan Cronin added the conversion to his own try as well as Chris Belmont’s effort for Pontyates. Three West B leaders

Bynea fell at the first hurdle as they slipped to a 45-10 defeat to Three West A strugglers Cardigan.

John Lumb set up the victory with a brace for Cardigan. Dan Turnell, Geraint Williams, Marcus Castle and Colin Davies added the other tries with Iwan John booting the rest from the tee.

Dylan Wright hit back for Bynea with a brace of tries.

Three West Central C table-toppers South

Gower put their name in the hat for round two with a narrow 17-10 win at Fall Bay.
