Jones gets the Nelson challenge underway

NELSON are finally up and running in One East after a convincing 59-29 win over Blaenavon.

Having lost their opening two fixtures, there was pressure on Nelson to get a positive result and the players stepped up to the plate.

Richard Jones was at the double with Dan Vella, Chris Bax, Jared Walters, Liam Bowden, Craig Wilson, Alex Edmunds and James Spear also on the scoresheet.

Ross Jones added the rest of the points from the tee.

Brynmawr and Penallta continue to lead they way after both picked up maximum points against

Risca and Ynysybwl respective­ly.

Rumney are up to third in One East Central after beating Dinas Powys 28-17.

Reagan Mahoney led the way with two tries, two penalties and a conversion.

Callum McDonald and Tom Rogers grabbed the other tries.

Llangefni with a four-try salvo while Llandudno claimed a 29-18 victory at Caernarfon. Felinfoel are the outright leaders of One West after they beat Aberystwyt­h 29-21.
