Top two can’t force crucial bonus point

South West Premier

-

BOURNEMOUTH and Ivybridge made it four wins out of four to sit in the top two on 19 points.

However, both lost their perfect start to the season after failing to pick up a bonus point, with

Bournemouth recording a 13-3 victory over Bracknell.

Bracknell took an early lead through a penalty before Grant Hancox levelled the scores. Shortly afterwards, Alex EverettBolter ran over the only try as his side took a 10-3 lead at half-time.

The second half was equally tight, with small errors causing spells of pressure to fade.

The deadlock was again broken when Hamish Renwick caused an infringement allowing Hancox to kick for the posts.

Ivybridge also missed the bonus point after falling just short, scoring

three tries in their 25-19 victory against Exeter University.

Kicker Billy Pinkus was on form for Ivybridge scoring two tries, along with two penalties and two conversions, while Charlie Briant scored the other try.

After a narrow victory last week, Maidenhead won in emphatic fashion as they ran out bonus-point 29-7 winners over Drybrook.

Dave Cole scored a double for the visitors while kicker Ed Keohane scored a try, a penalty and two conversions.

Andy Berry also crossed for Maidenhead, while Will Runciman scored the other conversion.

Barnstaple are also one of four sides who have won three of their four games after grabbing a 28-19 victory at Brixham. Camborne had an 18-16 victory over Old Patesians after scoring three tries through John Drew, Alex Ducker and Lewis Binnicombe.

All of the Patesians points came from full-back James O’Hearne.

Meanwhile, Cleve hadtheir first victory of the season after running away 34-17 in their game against Newton Abbot.

Henry Goldson scored a couple of tries as

Exmouth remain in touch with the early leaders following a 27-13 victory over Weston-super-Mare.
