Ampthill .......... 54 Cinderford ...... 10
AMPTHILL produced their best performance of this season scoring eight tries in a home hammering of Cinderford.
A's opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a trade mark catch and drive, credited to Aleki Lutui but then the backs took over with centre Ollie Morris, fly half Josh Sharp and wing Spencer Sutherland all crossing the white wash, Sharp converting them all.
However, Cinderford dominated the middle 20 minutes but were unable to add more than a 16th minute penalty goal from former Ampthill fly-half Danny Pointon.
The second half saw the home side add four further tries through Sutherland (2) for his hat trick, former Cinderford centre Sam Hanks and Morris again. Sharp adding the extras for all but the Sutherland's second.
The visitors consolation try came on 60 minutes through replacement hooker Thomas Heard after multiple pick and goes.
"Every facet of our game improved this week with our half-backs outstanding,” said head coach Paul Turner.
“Cinderford are a good side as evidenced by their excellent start to their return to National 1 and were very competitive until our third try after which we stretched away.
“The bench made their contribution while I thought our attacking intent and execution was as good as I've seen.”
