Rampant Pooler narrow gap on Students

CARDIFF Met’s lead at the top was cut to two points despite beating Rhydyfelin 26-21. Barrie Karea and Adam Dove claimed the Met tries but the game was won at the tee as Russell Bennett kicked four penalties and two conversion­s.

David Gratton, Ross Lucas and Kevin Briggs all touched down for Rhydyfelin with Gratton kicking six points for a losing bonus. Champions Pontypool were in devastatin­g form as they thrashed Newcastle Emlyn 52-19 to move closer to the summit. Ben Sparks led the way with a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Aaron Quick, Kieran Meek, Lloyd Lewis, Ben Parry and a penalty try.

Llyr Jones, Dafydd Evans and Luke Hansford bagged Emlyn’s tries.

Tata Steel secured a thumping 57-17 victory over

Beddau. Morgan Williams and Amir Jiwa-Walji shared five tries between them with Morgan grabbing a hat-trick. Owen Thomas, David Griggs, Trystan Herdman and Jack Brooks also touched down.

Beddau missed out on a bonus point as they could not add to tries from Josh Thomas, Adam Ashford and Ben Stevens.

One East Central champions Ystrad Rhondda sealed their sixth win in eight games with a 28-20 success over Newbridge. Aron Clarke was at the double with Corey Shephard and Liam Davies also scoring. Rhys Truelove added four conversion­s.

Lewis Hudd, Ben Snell and Eamon Rees replied for Newbridge with the latter adding the rest from the tee.

Owen Howe played an integral role in Maesteg’s 19-15 win over Bedlinog kicking four penalties and the conversion of Jacob Williams’ try. Nathan Huish, Gareth Williams and Alex Meeson scored for Bedlinog.

Narberth edged to a 2823 win over Trebanos. John Morgan, Andrew Cooke and Jack Price touched down for Narberth with Nick Gale kicking 13 points. Tom Dew claimed a brace for Trebanos.
