Warren seals it for DMP as Plymouth blow it

- By TOM BULMER

WARREN Seals’ late penalty saw Darlington Mowden Park beat Plymouth Albion in a tight and tense contest.

It was Plymouth who started the brighter when, from a catch and drive effort, hooker James Salter produced the try, converted by Fraser Honey.

After a further two minutes, Plymouth were over the home line again, this time winger Jack Arnott broke free on the halfway line, catching his kick ahead to outstrip the retreating home defence.

The home side struck back when Darlington caught and drove a lineout over the visitors line, with hooker Jamie Blamire dotting down for the score, fly-half Seals converting.

After another lineout, the ball was moved wide and the ball finding home winger Callum MacKenzie to score.

Home hooker Jamie Blamire was yellow carded for collapsing a maul early in the second half near the home line, as Darlington struggled to apply pressure on a seemingly lethargic visiting eight.

In the final five, Plymouth pressurised the home line with multiple scrums and their patience paid off when replacement hooker David McGregor forced his way over.

And Plymouth’s hearts were broken when in the final minute, they gave away a penalty 30 metres out and Seals, having missed one previously made amends with the kick and won the game for the home side.
