Field dig in to get back to winning habits
HUDDERSFIELD recaptured their winning formula with a try in each half from Kian Stewart and Lewis Bradley.
The West Yorkshire side had to work hard for their eighth win of the campaign against a robust Stourbridge outfit who battled to the final whistle.
And it was the visitors who started strongest, fullback Joe Heatley setting the tone early on with a fine 50-metre break that was stopped just short.
Field imposed themselves midway through the half through a neat Will Milner chip in behind, lightning wingman Stewart touching down.
Fly-half Chris Johnson on his return to the club took the hosts in 8-0 at the break with a well-struck 40metre penalty.
The visitors were reduced to 14 men after the restart when replacement prop Stefan Thorp was shown yellow.
Field capitalised, and good movement saw Bradley score under the posts, Johnson converting.
Stewart, on the end of a Johnson cross-field kick, went close again on the hour mark. The final 10 minutes saw Stour’s best spell of sustained pressure.
Scrum-half Callum Morris held up over the line before the ball was spun out to Heatley who squeezed in at the corner for a converted try.
Huddersfield dug in despite a Rickie Aley penalty rescuing a losing bonus point for the visitors with the last kick of the game.
