Supreme Stour too good for Tigers in stunner

- By NICK PULLEN

STOUR staged a stunning recovery by coming from 31-7 down to secure a vital victory which keeps them clear of the drop zone.

The Stourton Park side were staring at a possible seventh defeat in eight games as bogey side Tigers had started brightly.

Tigers scored tries through flanker Lewis Bloor, centre Tom Hart, right wing James Broadley and back row Kain Rix inside the first 20 minutes.

Fly-half Mark Ireland converted all four tries and threw in a penalty for good measure while Stour's only response was a converted try from right wing Reece Beddows.

Beddows gave Stour a glimmer of hope with his second try on 25 minutes before second row Nick Murphy was driven over for a third before half time, Chris Scott's conversions helping to close the gap to 21-31 by the break.

Stour stepped up a gear after the break and hooker Jack Lea struck with his tenth try of the season for Scott to level matters by converting. The tide completely turned when full back Joe Heatley raced over 60 metres to score a sumptious solo try.

Flanker Nigel Mukarati was driven over from a catch and drive, while Scott added another penalty.

Ireland landed another penalty for Tigers but Dan Rundle then intercepted to snap up a further try for Scott to convert.

Winger Henri Packard plundered a late consolation try for Tigers.
