Rhys Williams treble fires Swans to win at spirited Neath

- By ALEX BYWATER

R RHYS Williams’ hat-trick helped Swansea overcome a plucky Neath outfit in a high-scoring encounter at The Gnoll.

The All Whites full-back had a game to remember and his team also added tries from Sam Kiley, Ben Cambriani and Mike Evans while fly-half Steff Williams kicked 14 points.

Neath crossed through Alun Jones, a penalty score and Gareth Wyn Lloyd, but it wasn’t enough.

The hosts spent almost the entire first 40 defending their own line.

Rhys Williams waltzed through to open the scoring and Kiley was driven over from a driving lineout.

Steff Williams kicked two conversions and a penalty, but Jones responded with a try for Neath and Callum Hall converted with the last kick of the first half.

In-form wing Cambriani boosted Swansea’s lead and the effortless Steff Williams improved the try.

Referee Aled Liddington finally lost patience with the scrum which had been a mess all day and yellow carded Swansea’s Greg Cunliffe and Neath loosehead Ben Uphill.

Neath made the most of it to score a penalty try, but Rhys Williams went up the other end to grab his second and Swansea’s bonus-point effort. Steffan Williams converted and he soon added a sweetlystruck drop goal to push Swansea 20 points clear.

Williams completed his treble and there was still time for Lloyd and Evans to complete the scoring. Star man R Rhys Williams - Swansea
