Kelly: We must right the wrongs from French defeat

-

WALES forwards coach Richard Kelly has challenged his players to correct the mistakes of their French defeat against Italy today.

A young Wales side succumbed to the power of the Junior World Champions last week and will have to improve against an Italian side who toppled Scotland in round one.

But Kelly is confident they have the ability to get their campaign back on track this afternoon.”The players will want to put some of the wrongs of the game in France right in Italy,” said the former Scarlets lock.

“They have genuinely improved day on day over the past few weeks. We can see the difference in them. If they carry that on it’s going to be exciting to see where we end up as a team.

“The players will be selfmotivated today. This is a great opportunity for the players to get our Six Nations campaign back on track.”

Wales have made three changes for the clash at the Stadio Danilo Martelli in Mantova. Cardiff Blues centre Max Llewellyn replaces Tom Hoppe and second row Ed Scragg comes in for Jac Price.

Squad captain Tommy Reffell is also missing and is replaced by Lennon Greggains with hooker Dewi Lake taking the armband

Despite having confidence in his squad Kelly has warned Wales they face a stern examination against the Azzurri.

He said: “We know Italy are doing to challenge us at the scrum and with their driving line-out.

“They scored with a drive against Scotland and we know that’s going to be a huge threat of theirs that we are going to have to match. But we will take confidence out of the France game where our front five couldn’t have worked any harder for each other.”
