Rundle hat-trick wrecks South’s big day
STOURBRIDGE ran out convincing winners at South Leicester, ruining the hosts’ 100th anniversary celebrations.
Dan Rundle opened the scoring with a sixthminute try for the away side after a rolling maul had narrowed South's defence.
Hal Riley added a second score for the visitors six minutes later and showed enough strength to get over the line which set the tone for the match
South grew into the game towards the end of the first half and their efforts paid off with Joe Collingham crossing with 12 minutes left.
Both sides had opportunities created by their forwards, however neither were able to take them.
The visitors started the second half in the same vein as they began the first. Rundle made the initial break and the ball was recycled for the left winger to score his second try.
Stourbridge returned to the South 22 and left with three points thanks to a penalty from Chris Smith.
Rundle then completed his hat-trick ten minutes into the half after a solid scrum and lovely hands from the backline.
Joviah Pohe was sent to the sin-bin for a team offence and Stourbridge capitalised with Mark Harrison crossing in the corner.
Tom Cheney and Pohe then grabbed consolation tries for the hosts after some dominance in the last five minutes.
