Borrowdale at the double in Field breeze

- By ANDREW SMITH

AN EARLY brace of tries for lock Guy Borrowdale set Huddersfield on the way to their sixth consecutive win.

Despite spirited resistance from the visitors, particularly in the second half, the West Yorkshire side looked firmly in control crossing the line six times to claim maximum points.

Borrowdale’s bright start set the tone. Intense pressure on the Lions line allowed the lock forward to force his way through for the opening try.

Minutes later in similar fashion he crashed over for his second, Chris Johnson’s conversion giving the hosts an early 12-0 lead.

Field flanker Lewis Bradley was shown yellow but the visitors were unable to turn pressure into points and were stunned just before the break when scrum-half Joe

Green darted over.

The bonus point was secured following the restart, quick ball allowing Tom Hodson in down the left. The Lions were rewarded for a well-executed maul which saw flanker Tom Lewis score.

Lions winger Ben Peach saw yellow and the hosts capitalised, Johnson’s pinpoint cross-field kick put Lewis Workman in.

Peach crossed the line for the visitors moments after his return from the bin but Jack Maplesden scored another try. Replacement Will Nankivell reduced the deficit to 38-17 with a late try.
