Drovers power back from 14 points down to take triumph

- By STEFFAN THOMAS

LLANDOVERY came from 14 points down to claim a 31-24 bonus-point victory over RGC1404 at Stadiwm Zip World.

Tries from Richard Williams, Joe Powell, Richard Brooks and Kristian Jones was enough to secure Euros Evans’ side a bonus-point win, while outside-half Jack Maynard kicked 11 points.

The Gogs scored three tries of their own courtesy of Danny Cross, Dion Jones and Jordan Scott with Billy McBryde contributing nine points off the kicking tee.

Cross opened the scoring for RGC when he sliced through before Jones squeezed over at the corner after some precise handling.

But Llandovery hit back with two tries before the interval as both Williams and Powell crashed over from short range, meaning the scores were level at half-time.

Brooks fired the visitors into the lead after the break when he used his power to get over the line.

But Mark Jones’ side hit straight back with Scott scoring after a stunning break up the touchline by lively winger Harri Evans.

Replacement utility back Jones then claimed what proved to be the crucial score for Llandovery as he touched down following some lovely handling by his inside backs.

RGC came close to salvaging a draw at the death when full-back Jones raced clear before offloading to Cam Davies who was brought down just short. Star man Richard Brooks - Llandovery
