Bedwas breeze past the Bulls to end rotten run
BEDWAS climbed out of the automatic relegation places as they plundered a magnificent seven tries in their basement battle with Bargoed.
In charge from the moment left wing Adam Williams crossed for the first try five minutes into the game, their victory ended a run of seven games without success and was their first league victory since 23 November.
The bonus-point enabled them to leap-frog over Llanelli and Bridgend, although the latter have two games in hand. Joe Scrivens chipped in with 13 points as he landed all six kicks on a wet and blustery night. It was a great break by outside half Jacob Chilcott that paved the way for Williams to settle the home nerves with the opening score. Brynley Toms crashed over for a second and the power of the Bedwas scrum earned them the first of two penalty tries before the break.
Bargoed full back Julian Mogg grabbed a charge down try in the first half, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.
Home skipper Alun Rees secured the bonus-point with his try early in the second half and from there on in the scoreboard merely mounted. Jonathan Davies added a fifth try, then came the second penalty try before Connor Edwards completed the scoring with the seventh. Not even the sin-binning of Ryan Davies 10 minutes from time for illegally halting a Bargoed attack could dent the home momentum. Star man Alun Rees - Bedwas
