Chance to make up ground in the chase

- LYNDON EDNEY

SOMETHING has got to give today when two inform teams with play-off ambitions meet at Dry Leas in what promises to be one of the games of the weekend

Fifth-placed Henley Hawks host Taunton Titans, who are one point and one place above the Hawks. Both sides have a game in hand on those above them.

And, with second-placed Canterbury just seven points ahead of Taunton, today’s game represents a massive opportunity to reclaim ground.

“It is a big one,” said Henley’s director of rugby Nigel Dudding.

“While there is still a reasonable amount of rugby to play, clearly whoever wins this game is right back in the hunt for the second place.

“But, as I say there, is still a lot of rugby to play and, whatever the result, hopefully we can keep pushing.

“We’re excited to be playing on a Sunday and it should be a great occasion.”

Dudding’s side have put together a run of four straight wins since midJanuary, but the Titans are in-form, too, having won nine of their last ten.

Titans head coach Tony Yapp commented: “They’re right behind us and we’re well aware that they could leapfrog us.

“We’re excited by it. It’s been a little while since we’ve been in this position in the league, still in the mix after Christmas.

“I think, from a neutral’s point of view, this one’s going to be a cracking game.

“Henley like to throw the ball around and play and so do we, so it’s going to be an exciting one!”
