Hull bring up magic 20 with derby win

-

HULL made it 20 wins on the spin after beating

Ilkley 28-11 in a tasty Yorkshire derby.

It was 21-6 at the interval through tries from Ben Bootham and Luke Birch, both converted by Sam Humberston, plus a penalty try to two penalties from Ilkley’s Charles Ramsey.

In the second period, Stephen Hiheta went over for Hull to seal it, although Blake Morgan provided a late flourish for the visitors.

Billingham still lead the chasing pack after thrashing Kendal 55-10.

Dan Dixon and Martin Hopley bagged a brace apiece with Luke Wilson, Sean Richardson, Joe Ross, Ben Walton and Matt Kirby all over for one.

Glenn Weightman crossed for Kendal’s only try, which was converted by Chris Park to add to an early penalty.

However, Blaydon are breathing down the neck of Billingham after a nine-try blitz to see off Wirral 55-20.

Keith Loughlin dotted down twice, while Fraser Wilson, Dan Marshall, Liam Wright, Tony Harvey, Jack Davidson, Rob Lenderyou and Matt Jenkinson all got one – Ryan Forman adding five conversions.

Anything Blaydon can do, Harrogate can do better after an 11-try romp in a 69-14 pummeling of hapless Vale of Lune.

Henry Bernard led the charge with a hat-trick, followed by Andrew Lawson with two, Danny Matthews, Martin Dodds, Luke Riddell, Ollie Rosillo, Charley Purkiss-McAdoo and Hugo Tasker with one each.

Ben Dorrington and Sam Wallbank crossed for Lune but that was the definition of scant consolation.

Elsewhere, Lymm eased possible relegation worries – 52-13 winners at home to Alnwick.

Jake Ashall, Jordan Widderington, James Pitcher, Joe Watson, Richard Halford, Aaron Rasheed and

Richard McEvoy were the try scorers.

Rossendale returned to winning ways by besting bottom-of-the-table Wilmslow 36-17.

Curtiss Strong and Jordan Lord crossed with Jake Foster and Dom Moon in for two apiece. And Sandal beat Kirkby

Lonsdale 52-7 through tries from Jack Townend, Dave Martin, Will Morecambe (2), Alex Edler, Elliott Thompson and Nathan Newbound, all converted by Greg Wood.
