Rain gives Hull chance to go clear at top

WITH Kirkby Lonsdale’s match against Billingham postponed due to a waterlogge­d pitch, Hull increased their lead at the top with an eight-try 54-5 win at Lymm.

Stephen Hiheta led the charge with four tries, followed by Mike Adlard (2) and Ben Boothman and Tom O'Donnell one each.

Simon Humberston was on target with seven

conversion­s as Tom Shard crossed for Lymm’s only score.

Blaydon take over second spot, beating

Ilkley 21-15 at Stacks Field. Fraser Wilson, Keith Loughlin and Jack Appleton were try scorers for the visitors, with all three converted by Jamie Guy.

Ricki Palasio and Ben Waddington went over in reply, with Charles Ramset adding a penalty and a conversion. Harrogate got the better of Alnwick 24-7 as Danny Matthews, Sean Brady and John Croser were the Yorkshire side's try scorers, with a penalty try securing the bonus point.

Jack Smales scored for the home side, adding the conversion.

Rossendale move further up the table after a 32-10 victory away at Kendal.

Tom Allen (2), Lewis Pattinson, James Bramhall and Harrison Moulding were the try scorers, with Lewis Allen contributi­ng two conversion­s and a penalty.

Sandal were 69-14 winners at Vale of Lune.

Danny Grainger and Jack Townend bagged two apiece, with Dave Martin, James Stewart, Richard Carolan, James Purcell, Cameron Lees, James Ellar and Anthony Jackson the other try scorers.

Charlie Lomas and Luke Ford went in for the home side with bothbeing converted by Alex Briggs.

The shock of the afternoon must be Wilmslow’s 47 -34 win at home to

Wirral, only their second win of the season so far.

Though it does not lift them off bottom spot, it will provide a massive boost to their confidence.

The home side racked up seven tries with Ben Day grabbing a hat-trick and James Coultherst in for two.

Ethan Harding and Sean Street went over for one with Bobby McCallum hitting six conversion­s in the pivotal triumph.
